Hi all, I am in the process right now of gathering the equipment and knowhow I need to begin brewing.

One of my co-workers used to make wine, so I was given a bunch of carboys, primary buckets, etc. Pretty much all I have had to buy is a pair of coolers, and a brew pot.

I am planning to do my first brew on Canada Day, July 1st. This should allow for enough time for me to finish my basement by the end of Aug, and have a tasting party.

My plan is to do a German Pils, followed in a few weeks by an ESM or Scottish Export.

I won't have much else to add for some time, so I will resume lurk mode now.

I do plan on all grain right away.

Initially I was looking to do extract for the first few, but have offered to be a brewmonkey for a (relatively) local brew club.

I hope to be able to combine what I see with what I have read, and make something at least drinkable.

I'm sure you'll do fine. Mashing is actually very forgiving. Once you see a full brew session you will wonder what the big deal is. :)

Where is this relatively local brew club if I may ask? I wasn't aware there were any around our neck of the woods.

Nah Markham isn't bad. My sister goes to York and I visit her fairly often. I also have to go to my office twice a week by the airport. It's an annoying drive depending on the time of day but only an hour.
