Newish to home brewing and brand new to the community here! My first brew was back in September 2014 and have made about 10 batches since then. My latest batch is my first ever BIAB (Belgian wit attempt) that I am impatiently waiting to finish out so I can bottle! Making the base for a watermelon wheat this weekend and then maybe some spent grain bread when I'm done.

My local homebrew shop closed down semi-recently so that really had slowed down my brewing. This nice weather has sparked the bug in me to brew all day everyday (I work from home now so maybe I should do just that...). Cheers!

Welcome to the addiction from Farmingville. That sucks the LHBS closed.Where was it? I go to Arbor beer wine in Islip for bulk grain and order hops online by the pound

I used to go to Back Alley Brew Shop in Patchogue. Went to a few bottle shares there too with my fiancé. we had finally started networking and then it closed. I got my last ingredients from Arbor, its a nice shop. Its not an awful drive from Medford but I got spoiled buy only having to drive to Patchogue I guess.

Medford? I was thinking out on the forks LOL.Its not a bad ride to Arbor and the ladys really nice.I only went to Back Ally once.I thought it was kind of a lame shop.Almost like it was the guys hobby not a business.

To be perfectly honest my wife works 5 minutes from Arbor and Ive been calling in my order and shes been picking it up after work. NOW THATS SPOILED. :ban:

Ha! You are SPOILED! I'm not from Long Island originally (from New Hampshire and managed a work transfer here before I started working from home), so maybe eastern wasn't the best description. My fiancé went to high school in Mattituck...so that's probably more eastern...I'll get it eventually!

Back alley was a good resource when we first started out. It gave the introduction to brewing we needed. I really like the selection at Arbor though! There was a couple of times I went to pick up bottles from back alley and they were completely out. The ladies there were really helpful when we picked up our last ingredients.

I'm in Nassau County. I usually make a trip out to Arbor every few weeks for grain. Usually get my hops from Northern Brewer. Although I just bought a 1 lb bag of Galaxy from Arbor for around $35. Great little shop. They have just about everything you need.

Oh that's great they have Galaxy! I really was curious about that hop and wanted to make a SMaSH with them. I'll see if I can't pick some up when I go on Friday.
