I have a 15 gal Blichmann G2 and going to order a HERMS coil from stainless brewing. The 1/2"x 50' is @11" tall if i install it 1" over heating element the top will be around the 12 - 12.5 gal mark. My question is would the 1/2" x 25' be suffice it is @ 6" tall putting it at the 8 gal mark. I will be doing mostly 10 gal batches and an occasional 15 gal.

First off i assume your doing 5 and 10 gallon batches? Your not doing 15 gallon batches with a 15 gallon pot?

I know the Blichmann pots are only like 16" wide, do you know if the 12 1/2" diameter one will fit? That will let you use a wider coil to keep it lower in the pot.

The 15 gallon pot is his HLT, so it is conceivable that he is doing 15 gallon batches with it. He won't ever need to heat up that much strike water unless he does no-sparge, which I kind of doubt.

My kettle is 15.9 inches. I contacted stainless brewing and ordered the 10" coil (25' 1/2" OD). Between the bends and the fittings, 12 1/2" would be too wide they said. I'll be doing 5 gallon batches mostly, but will do a few 10 gallon batches from time to time.
