Im in the middle of a Pliny the Elder clone brew and i just realized i do not have the 1 lb of Dextrose (Corn Sugar) that it calls for. Can a substitute be used without messing it up? if so what?

THANKS for any help!!!

Yes, you can substitute cane sugar, plain old white table sugar. You'd need to do a search to see if 1 lb of each is equivalent, I assume they're not.

You'll be fine substituting white cane/beet sugar which I'm sure you have. It's very slightly more fermentable so you might go with 1/2oz or so less.

Ok, found a chart that says that 8 oz of cane sugar is equivalent to 8.5 oz of corn sugar. So, if you use slightly under a pound of cane sugar, say 15 oz, you should be fine.

thanks guys.... just finishing the mashout and was breaking into cold sweats! I'll go with 15oz of table sugar in the boil. Curious though, what about Corn Syrup? I have some of that also, but it has vanilla in it. I'm trying to get the clone right on, otherwise i'd throw in whatever to see what happens!
