Ok, I'm an idiot it seems when it comes to brewing some beer. I dont know any of the words that are being used, I read the first 8 pages of Homebrew.com or whatever, but it seems too easy on there.

My question is, What kind of beer should i brew first. Im a stout/porter drinker, but will dabble into some amber ales. Actually i like all beers, except coors light, bud light, that crap. I want a good beer to learn on, but also will be drinkable.

I'll think of a few more questions and post them later, Sorry if i sound like a total idiot, but i just got into this stuff about 2 weeks ago.

Try howtobrew.com - unless that's what you meant.

I'd say brew a porter or a stout if that's what you like. Pick a nice extract kit from midwest, northern or AHS and you'll be fine. Their instructions are very good

howtobrew.com is probably the #1 recommended reference on this site. (Nothing wrong with a free book)

Also look into the Complete Joy of Homebrewing by Charlie Papazian, what some consider the "Bible of Homebrewing"

You can also learn alot from the internet and find quite a few useful sites.

Good Luck, you have chosen an awesome hobby.

Porters and stouts are actually just about the easiest beers to make, so if those are your faves, your decision is easy.
