i am bottling today, and i realized i only put 4 gallons in the bucket instead of 5, is my beer ok?

Well it didn't DIE or anything.....did you measure your priming sugar for a 5 gallon batch? If so your beer may be over primed.....

Just make sure after they have carbed and conditioned for 3 weeks at 70 degrees, that you chill them down for a good solid week before drinking them. That will help force the co2 into solution...and stand over a sink when you open it.

I did something similar bottling my last batch. I didn't notice my spigot was open on my bucket, and I walked away to chech HBT...and lost a half gallon of beer, after I had added priming solution..so my batch is a tad fizzy.

but it's okay.

i havent done the priming sugar yet. i just got the bucket out and noticed it was only at the 4 gal mark

You're fine. Put a little less priming sugar in. (80% if you wanna be exact). Your beer will be bigger but you'll be fine.

I find myself doing that as well in my ale pales because of the foam screwing up my level reading.
