I recently purchased an all grain saison kit (link is posted below) from Jasper's. The directions call to add 1/2 lb. of light candi sugar to the kettle, but doesn't tell you when to add it. Does anyone know when I should add the candi sugar to the boil? At the beginning of the boil (60 mins) or closer to the end (flameout). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I brew a lot of Belgian ales, all of which use sugar as an adjunct. The consensus view, as far as I can tell, is to add sugar at 10 minutes, flameout or even in secondary. Adding too early can result in scorching, yielding off flavors.

My $0.02 worth.
