Hi everyone, this is my first time making any type of home brew, and wanted to know if it was safe before i drank it. I found it on a website, http://27ways.ca/cheapbooze. I found the website from google, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to be working now. Anyways, heres basically what happened.

I mixed 3 gallons of apple juice from concentrate, added 3 lbs of sugar, 5 spoonfulls of regular bread making yeast, and let it sit for 5 days. i know this is a very crude way, but I am not a conisseur (sp?) and it was just an experiment. I was just wondering now, is the product safe to drink, or should i pasturize it first, or should i just toss it and try a better method.

Thanks for the help...

Taste it and see. I doubt it would be tasty... Your juice should be preservative free, so if it wasn't, that may cause problems. Bread yeast, uh, well it will ferment, but it may not taste so great...

Only way to find out is to try it. Next time make sure you use preservative free juice, and go buy some champagne yeast, it only costs a few bucks and will give a better result I'm sure...

Too bad you didn't ask first, but for next time-

1) don't use lots of sugar unless you'rew willing to wait 6 months to a year for the nasty taste to subside

2) use proper cider yeast, or a beer yeast if you prefer. Bread yeast is great for bread, not for cider. Wine/champagne yeast will give you a very dry cider if that's what you like.
