Hey Everyone:

I'm back again. This time I am looking for help with a beer that I am planning to brew for my wife. I'm looking for a smooth beer with low bitterness and a citrusy flavor.

The closest Style I could find was American Pale Ale.

This is the recipe I came up with.

9lb Maris Otter
1lb Vienna
1lb Crystal/Caramel 10L

1oz Cascade 60 min
1oz Cascade 10 min
1oz Cascade 5 min
1oz Cascade 0 min

Yeast - US West Coast

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks!

I would love it!

The only possible change I would make is to run it through some brewing software, to make sure that it won't be too bitter. You may need to reduce the 60 minute cascades to .75-.5 oz so that you are in the 35 IBU range or thereabouts. It would depend on the AAUs of the cascades you're using, and the OG of the beer, but you may well be perfect just as is.

The BrewToad software has me at an IBU of 30 using a Cascade with a 7% Alpha. I will make sure I double check what I get a the LBH in case I need to adjust.

That sounds perfect! It's going to be hoppy in the flavor and aroma, so hopefully that is what you had in mind for your wife. It looks great to me!
