Help Not enough water in my first brew

Hi all Please could someone help i have just brewed my first brew (coopers larger) well i say ive brewed it its now seven days in and i have noticed i read the measure jug wrong and only have half the amount of water in it question is do i throw it and start again or can i top it up with water to the correct level many many thanks

You can toss the water in. Use all the water in the brew kettle next time, if possible.

I would never water down already fermented beer. Can you take a gravity reading and see how far along your cooper's beast beer has come along? Depending on the yeast, they may crap out on you or they may provide you with a mighty tasty high ABV delight.


On a side note, you didn't notice your fermenter only half full?

thanks for your reply guys but i got the first reply first and put the water in i have taken a gravity reading to day and it says its beer so hopefuly it will be ok they say you learn by your mistakes lol as for not noticing that the thing was only half full i did think mmmmm that dont look like it would make the right amount but hey like i said never done it before but i do now once again thanks

Also, you took a gravity reading and it said it's beer? Do you have a specific number on that?

Guessing it read 0.b33r on the hydrometer. That's what mine always says. I'm thinking I should get a refractometer...

If I told you all the goofy mistakes I made with my first batch I'd be here until the sun came up.

You made beer, and it will probably taste good. Next batch, I am willing to bet, will taste even better. Some mistakes just have to be made ONCE to get them outta your system.
