I went to hook up my 5 gallon Corny keg today and realized that when I was putting it back together after cleaning, I mixed my tubes and put the long tube through the gas post short gas tube is in the liquid post. Is it possible to still tap the keg? Should I release the pressure, take the keg apart, and switch the tubes? Or should I switch my connectors? Connect the gas line to the typical liquid connector and liquid line to the gas connector?

Gas QD's and liquid QD's are not interchangeable. Just switch the posts and you'll be fine. Leave the tubes in place.

From the description given, it sounds like the posts are in the right spots, but the tubes got switched around. If that's the case, you'll have to switch the tubes to the correct holes.

In my corny kegs, the posts can be screwed on to either side. Also, the tubes themselves are interchangeable. If it weren't for the stamped-in "IN" or "OUT" in the black handle, it wouldn't matter which one went where.

But, as soon as I unscrew them, my kombucha (I keg kombucha) comes out of the opening because it's under pressure.

Do I just work quickly to avoid it spilling out?

Vent completely (just leave the pull tab in the up position if you have a vent). Work fast. Work in a bathtub (or put the keg in a sink or rubbermaid container). If it was beer I'd say keep a bottle of spray sanitizer handy, but I don't know if you need to worry about infecting kombucha.

Thanks so much for your help! I'll vent it and switch the tubes. Will this affect the carbonation at all? Should I just re-pressurize the keg after I make the switch and cap it again?
