Hi Everybody! I'm from West Michigan and I just brewed my first time a week ago. I used the Brewers Best Witbier. I just transferred it to the secondary and seems like everything is going very well. Hope to bottle it in about a
week or so. I'm hoping to learn a lot from everybody here.
My next brew I'd like to try the Chocolate Milk Stout. If anybody has any tips or tricks I should know about that please pass them on!

Welcome to the Forums. I'm new here too and I'm loving it.
Regarding the Chocolate Milk Stout, I've never brewed one, so I can't really help. But good luck and keep us posted.

Hey jkkrad. I'm going to be in Holland later this week. I grew up there. Jacks still have the best beer selection? I want to pick up something in a swing top bottle.
Oh, pretty gutsy brewing in Zeeland. ;)

Chop1867 do you mean Pete's? I haven't heard of Jacks. Pete's is good but there's also Repete's on the north side of town on Riley and us31. They are actually better than the original Pete's. Hey Zeealand actually has a micro brewery opening this spring right on Main Street. There are also a couple restaurants serving now too!

Pete's. That's it. I'll be driving right by Pete's on Thursday.

Welcome! I've got a Chocolate Milk Stout that I like. I take a regular stout, and back off just a bit on the roast malt. You may find it tastes BETTER with the usual amount, but my recipe is for people who prefer it a bit less bitter.

The chocolate and milk part is 1 lb. of lactose (Milk Sugar) and 8 ounces of cocoa in the boil, and then after primary, 8 ounces of cacao nibs in the secondary for aroma.

The cocoa will make a thick sludge in the boil kettle. I'd try and get that into the primary where it will settle out quickly, but might impart more chocolate flavor.

My goal with that recipe was to make a nice and chocolatey stout, but not to make a MILK CHOCOLATE stout. more of a slightly sweet dark chocolate flavor that would pair well with the roast flavors from the malt.

Welcome, I use to work in Grandville, and went to Herman Miller in Zeeland all the time. I know a few people who live in Zeeland.

Thanks for the tips Homercidal! That sounds really good!
