Just wanted to say hi from the uk. Been an active home brewer for 3 years now. Just finished my keezer project and attached pictures. Loving the new set up and being able to keg my brews. Currently holding a citra American IPA. 6.2%. Fermenting a Yorkshire bitter named websters. A great norther drop from years ago. Third keg holds a Stella clone.

This is a great forum and been getting some great advice. Take care all.

I'm also fermenting with the brewjacket pro. Imported from us. And absolutely loving it. Great product

Welcome to the forum. Where in the UK?

I grew up in the UK. Came over here and found there was zero decent beer. Very little imported from the UK either; occasionally I'd find Bass or Theakstons OP, but that was rare. That's what started me brewing many, many, many years ago.

Fortunately Craft Beer has taken off in a big way over here the past 15 years and the selection is now almost too much. Beer selection and variety of styles now far surpasses anything I've seen in the UK in the past few years.

We're just starting to see the craft beer hideouts here now. Most of the big brewery's are creating plenty. Homebrewing still needs to really take off here though. Hard work finding parts, etc.

I spent a number of years in Derby working for RR. Marstons was the main beer around at the time along with the usual. Marstons was an independent brewery at that time. It was just at the start of CAMRA, and there were a lot of country pubs pouring straight from the barrels right there in the bar.

Home brew supplies seem very sparse in the UK. I'm only there for a few weeks a year now, and obviously don't know where to go for supplies, but what I see when I'm there is very little. Boots used to be the biggest place for HB supplies. I'm still using 2 of 3 fermenters (7 gallons) I got from them over 30 years ago.

Wilkinson's does a good range of equipment and the wilko yeast is Nottingham. In terms of the 'craft beer scene': here in London it's been going strong for 20+ years, though it has grown even bigger in the last ten. Real Ale scared off the younger generations so since it's been repackaged as craft ale the hipper generations have got involved. The main difference these days is that there are more English, German and Belgian beers with the word American prefixed to them because of the use of American hops.

Welcome wildknight and hi Calder.

I too am from England hate calling it UK (i am english).

Originally from Yorkshire and loved the old peculier and black sheep beers.
But my favorite is Barnsley bitter, yes thats where i am from. My parents are flying over in October and my dad found a receipe book on Barnsley market with the BB in there so going to brew it for him. There is a homebrew stall there thats been around for 30-40 years. Its the only one i know of in the area.
