Hello all! I'm Dean, from Fayetteville, NC. First, I'd just like to say thank you for all of the information you've shared here! I'm a newbie and have been lurking and reading tons here so I thought it was time to create an account. I'm hating I waited until 55 to get started but I'm ready to try to make up for lost time. haha

I just picked up a 10 gal ss pot and a Bayou SP10 burner today and ended up ordering the deluxe brewing kit and a couple other items from Northern. It wasn't easy picking out a kit and even though it was a little more than other somewhat comparable kits, I thought I'd like to start with the Big Mouth Bubblers.

Knowing my wife would go bat crazy if I tried to brew indoors because of the few parrots we have in the house, I figured I'd jump in doing full boils so I also ordered a 3/8" x 50' copper wort chiller as well.

Looking forward to learning and sharing! :mug:

Welcome to the hobby from Greensboro! What do you have lined up as your first brew?

Thanks BigMack! I have the Caribou Slobber Brown Ale that comes with the kit I ordered and then today I ordered an Irish Stout extract kit with an extra set of carboys.

Hoping to have everything delivered by Friday so I can do a practice run Saturday. If all goes well I'm hoping to get both into primary Sunday.

I made that one with my kit too. It turned out to be pretty good.

I knew a lot of people that home brewed in the area, mostly around Moore County (Southern Pines). Their club was called Southern Hop Heads so they might be a local resource for you.

Thank you for the heads up on SHH! I'll look them up. I was able to find an inactive facebook group for a Fayetteville club but I'm sure there must be a lot of people local to Fayetteville as well, I just need to get out and shake the bushes.

Cheers from Raleigh! And yes, there are a TON of people from Fayetteville.

Thanks! One day I hope to land over in the mountains over that way.

Welcome to the hobby, and the group, from CO :mug:

Sounds like you're starting with a great setup!

Cyclman, thank you! The more I read here and online my thoughts of just trying out a gallon kit quickly changed. LOL :D
