Hi,
I have been brewing using kits and extract for a few years and have recently progressed to using extract and steeping grains, I look froward to having the space to progress further to full mash brewing.

Since I have been browsing these Home brew forums for some time I thought it was about time to sign up to one, and have added some of the recipes I have used or plan to use in the future. Look forward to hearing any feedback on them.

Welcome! Have you visited the Highland Park distillery? I read that they malt their own barley.

And send me some dried peat! I want to smoke some malt. :)

Orkney would be a great place to visit...

Yes I have a long time ago, but yes they malt there own barley using the floor malting method. If you look at my Traditional Orkney Ale thread it explains a old traditional style of malting barley.

Orkney is a small place with only 20 000 population but we still have two comercial breweries one with a visitor centre I must still visit and a high population of home brewers lol.

I have a ifriend in Kirkwall named Merryn Dineley , she is a brilliant mind on the matters of Neolithic Civilizations including brewing and advanced malting / grains , would you happen to know of her ?, she regularly gives demo's at Skara Brae and some other sights around Orkney?
