Long time listener, first time caller. Been stalking the forums for about 2 years and have finally jumped in, Much to the dismay of my wallet and wife.

Buddy and I have finally gotten all the pieces (To start at least!) Brewing up to 10 gallon BIAB Batches. Jumped in head first before getting our toes wet and it has been fun so far. Have one batch of "Lawnmower Ale" In the fermenter going on about day 12, and just brewed an "Easy Wheat" On Monday.

Have a contoller we built from E-Brew for single 5500w element single pump. Using a 15 Gallon Spike Kettle, and a counter flow to get to pitch temps.

Would love to get involved with home brew in the suburbs of North West Chicago.

Hoping the first two beers come out well. Learned a lot the first two batches and look forward to apply it to the next ones.

Cheers!

Cheers and welcome to the forum.

Not exactly sure where your at but here is a link to my club. We meet the third Thursday of the month in Libertyville. It's a pretty active club, we do several festivals, (we get to serve our beers, some of the festivals pay a stipend for beers, in that case we usually offer that cash directly to a brewer to cover ingredient costs)

There are a few other clubs further west or south. You can check the Aha web site for listings. Cheers!

Welcome to the hobby. For clubs, Midnight Carboys (not a member) meets in Crystal Lake and Club Wort (am a member) meets in Palatine (though our next meeting is at a brewery in Niles).

Learning is always fun. I just finished my 7th batch - cloning Pliny the Elder. Next up is trying Westvleteren XII in a couple of weeks. Every batch is a learning experience - and an excuse to drink while watching a pot boil :)
