Hello fellow brewers!

My name is dalamar49, I just started brewing today. I've lurked around the forum and watched some YouTube videos on home brewing and got sucked into it.

My first brew is a NewCastle Brown Ale clone. I can't wait to try it in a couple weeks. My wort is cooling right now, and waiting for its yeast.

I live in sunny San Diego, but am originally from Reno, Nevada. After I gain some experience I'd love to hook up with some other San Diego home brewers and share tips and insights on brewing.

I promise to lurk around the many posts from other newbies before bugging you about home brewing.

:mug:

Welcome.
San Diego is an awesome town. I am in Massachusetts but visited San Diego twice. What a great beer town. So many microbreweries in the area, I was in heaven. We spent half the week eating at the Stone Brewery enjoying their excellent beers and food selection in their beer garden. I think there are a couple of homebrew groups in your area that meet at the Stone Brewery something like every other week.

Good luck with your Newcastle clone.

welcome to the obsession! and whats with this cold weather today? 63 degrees? I had to put a hoodie on!

Thanks for the welcome everybody.

Good luck, in your move to San Diego, Professor Frink! Its heaven here, except for the cold (ha!) weather. As GregR pointed out it can get into the low 60's. Burrr! Hahahahaha.

My wort fermented explosively the first day, pouring tons of goo all over a plastic container I put the fermenter in. I put the fermenter outside for a few hours to slow the fermenting down. Unfortunately it seems to slowed the fermentation too much. I brought my fermenter back inside, but haven't noticed any activity since.

Oh well. For now I wait to see what happens next. I got my fingers and toes crossed that my wort will keep fermenting. Wish me luck!

UC??? how close were you to the F/A 18 crash? I am about 6 miles from the crash. off of Genesee and the 163.

I live off of North Genesee. I was about a mile from the crash! Those jets fly over almost everyday.

Thankfully the statistical likelihood of one crashing on me is unlikely.

Hey fellow brewers.

I completed my first batch of beer after several f-ups. Despite that my first batch is drinkable. Some bottles and really good. Some are just ok. Pretty good for my first time around the block, eh?

Thank you all for your help. This website is especially helpful.
