Hello!

My name is Rui and I share the same pation as you all: Home Brew ;)

I'm a freshman at this process. I started on April with the Brewferm Diabolo kit, then a Muntons Wheat and, for the last, a Brewferm Ambiorix.

To tell you the truth, I was becoming a little bit disappointed to where this was going. The taste where much look-a-like for the Brewferm products but, after a visit to an Artisanal Beer festival, everything changed! IPA, Imperial IPA, Wheat, Bock, Pilsner, you name it! So much flavour richness!

On the next week I was buying a 33L pan, a grinder and everything needed to make a Wheat beer as well as a Duvel look a like :)

Later today I'll share you my first experiment with the Wheat beer :)

Take care!

Regards,

Rui

Hi Rui
I think a lot of us beginners get seduced by the Brewferm kits and the prospect of some strong Belgian beer. But it's pretty well-known that they take months to mature. I bottled a Diabolo in April and it's just now starting to taste great. I also have crates of Gallia and Grand Cru freshly bottled, but I won't be touching them until around Christmas.
The IPA kits are much quicker. Be careful of trying a lager, unless you can ferment and store at cold temperatures.
I've also had quick successes with stout kits.

Boa sorte!

Howdy! I think you'll def like IPA's,pale ales & the like. They're ready much quicker than Belgians,& other big beers that take longer to mature. I'm working on some new kind of IPA's myself that have some familiarity with more common IPA's in regard to citrus flavors from hops. But less citrus & more hop complexity from different hop flavors. Something like Sam Adam's Latitude 48 IPA.
Wheat beers are a new on for me,as I brew partial mash biab. They're great for hot weather thirst quenching,& can take many different flavor additions.
This is the best site on the net to learn about brewing, food pairings, bbq, sausage & cheese making...anything to drink & what goes with it!
Nas Darovie'!

Thank you all for the welcome :)

Darren, thanks for the tips. I've saved a few for a test in half a year. Maybe that was my problem. ;) Regarding the lagers, I've been successful fermenting them at 26-27º. Will the taste be affected?

Union, I'm crazy for the IPA's and I sure will try to make one in a near future :)

Regards,

Rui
