I've been brewing cider for several months now and I was even daring enough to try a small batch of mead. I'm planning to start my first batch of beer after the holidays, and I figured this would be a good place to hang out before I dive in too deep.

Hello from a little further north.
I'm up in Raymond Washington.

Judging by your name you must be a lever action fan. I collect Marlin lever actions. Can't wait to add the 45-70 to my collection!

Well I do love lever actions!
I love bolt guns, various single shots, front stuffers and six guns also.
The sharps isn't exactly a lever action. It's a single shot falling block with a lever that drops the block, then you remove the spent round and insert another, like a browning highwall, sor of. A ruger no. 1 would be the closest modern equivalent.
My favorites are old guns, with replicas of old guns being second.
I've got one Marlin lever gun. It's a 444. That gun has served me well with deer and bear but I would like the 45-70 version with the longer octagon barrel also.

I also hunt with a Marlin 444. It's an awesome brush gun. I have shot a few deer with it but mostly use it for elk. I usually hunt deer with my Marlin .35 Remington. Unless I'm in eastern Oregon then I use a .264 Winchester.
