Hello Irishman, got a few from the Atlanta area here. This is a good place, a lot of good people with loads of good advice to help along the brewing adventures.

Welcome from the GA coast. There is a good LHBS in Gwinett COunty. I think it's called Home Brew Supplies. Welcome to the madness.

Cheers and Fair Winds,

Welcome. I am south of you, in Avondale Estates. There are quite a few of us on here from the Atlanta area and a few of us had discussed getting together maybe in January.

Yeah, there is a store on Indian Trail-Lilburn Rd. (http://www.homebrewingsupplies.org/) I have been there a few times and they are very nice and fairly well stocked. I tend to go up to the store in Alpharetta (http://www.beernecessities.com) because it is easier for me to get to during my lunch break. It is also very well stocked and the prices are fair.

I am not a member of any clubs, but there are a few in the area. There is Covert Hops out of Atlanta (maybe Decatur), they have a Yahoo! page. And I know there is a club from Alpharetta and Gainsville but I can't recall their names.

Good luck and welcome!

Charlie's book is good the organization isn't all that great and some of the material is a little dated.

John Palmer's How to Brew first edition is on line for free at www.howtobrew.com his book is excellent.

Other good reading includes BYO magazine and I liked "Brew Ware" although some of the Do it yourself (DIY) projects in these are turkeys many are very good.

If I had found this site before I made some purchases and build some stuff I could have saved myself some time and money so be sure and ask for opinions before you buy or build.

This thread might me helpful for all those acronyms
