Greetings everyone. I've been looking around for about a week and thought I'd say hi after brewing my first batch this afternoon. My batch this afternoon was an Amber Ale and now the waiting game begins.

The wait wouldn't be so bad but I thought I'd get cute with hop pellets and throw them in a handful of tea balls during the boil not knowing how much they'd swell up. Now I sit patiently waiting for the fermenting to do it's thing in the primary before racking. A question I have (sorry if it's not okay to ask questions in introductory threads) is if I can fix the lack of hops by dry hopping in the secondary?

Look forward to learning much more while around here. I've already learned quite a bit the last few days as it is.

Welcome clake, this site is full of great info, I've only been at this a short time but I'd be lost without this site!...

I'm by no means an expert and quite frankly I shouldn't even be answering, but I think everything I've read says that dry hopping is more for adding aroma than adding bitterness, but I very likely could be wrong as well, so take it for what it's worth (which might not be anything)

Thanks for the input.

I am in Northern NJ - Montclair... The AF Base is in South Jersey, right?

McGuire AFB I presume?

I used to work at Ft Dix and lived in Browns Mills and Mt Holly before moving away...:D

It shows you are near the Quad Cities. Oddly enough, I went to school about 90 miles south of the QC's in Macomb.

I did most of my growing up in South Jersey, the Tabernacle/Medford area. Good to see another Jersey-ite, even you are in South New York :)
