I’m in the second fermentation stage of my first batch of Blonde Ale made from an extract kit. I’ve wanted to do this for years, but couldn’t bring myself to spend the money on the equipment. Enter my wife who goes out and gets me a brewing kit for Christmas. I have 2 books I am studying and referring to (Joy of Brewing and The Brew Masters Bible). So get ready all, I’ll have a lot of silly question to ask over the next few months.

Question number one: I’m going to stick with the extract kits for a while to get myself comfortable with the procedures. Which kits do you recommend? I’ve seen some post saying that the brewer’s best kits are good. Any others? Anything I should avoid? I know its somewhat subjecting, I’m just looking for some feed back to help me make my decision on the next batch.

Thanks :tank:

Welcome!

Where in NY are you from? Upstate, or the city?

My first couple batches were Brewer's Best kits, and they were good. Lots of people have also had great success with the kits that you can buy from Northern Brewer, Austin Homebrew, and the other major online companies. But, absolutely nothing wrong with the the BB kits, and they are a great way to be able to focus on the process and know that you have good ingredients and a good recipe.
