Hello all. Just found this site an I am very impressed with the amount of information to go through. I haven't brewed yet, still doing my homework. Been reading the on line book, How To Brew - By John Palmer. Lots of information there for the greenhorn like myself. Will be ordering my starter kit from midwestsupplies.com in the next week or two. This is the one I have decided on. Any pro's or con's appreciated.

Well back to my "homework". Happy brewing all!

Hey there from a former Michigander! The kit looks good. To it, the only things I would add would be a funnel with strainer and a thermometer. In the kit it says "liquid crystal thermometer.". Unless I'm off, I would say that is a color stick on variety used during fermentation rather than one used for mashing and gravity readings. If you are also purchasing a turkey fryer kit for boiling, one often comes with that.

Which of course leads into... What will you be boiling in?

Welcome to our favorite disease. I hope it infects you like it has all of us.

I have a brand new turkey fryer pot waiting to be put to use.

Welcome to the forum! I bought a similar kit from them a bit ago. The liquid crystal thermometer they list is for sticking to the side of a carboy or pail. You'll definitely want to get a seperate thermometer and also some Starsan for sanitizing.

Welcome rook lots to learn about brewing and you have come to the right place. Lot's of good friendly people here with a wealth of knowledge to share.

Greets and +1 on a good thermometer. I've had decent luck with the cheap ones at Walmart with a remote cord. Check the calibration in a glass of shaved ice and water. But be careful not to soak the cord in the water or beer!

Whereabouts are you? I'm in Reed City as you can tell from my profile.
