Thanks for the kind welcome, always interesting to see how close brewers are, apparently we are legion.
My 1st brew went OK (I hope) thanks to my brewing mentor. I took pity on the wife and tried to do most of it outside using a Bayou burner and that got my 8.5 gallon kettle going quickly.
Other than pushing the stopper into far while sanitizing the carboy things went pretty well (We won't mention my 7 year old daughter splashing me from the neighbors pool next door the exact moment we were transfering to the primary fermenter.
My only other hiccup was that I used the wrong yeast packet, go figure Nottingham dry yease was for the Light ale kit that came with the starter set the wife bought and Sarfale Dry yeast was for the English IPA.
Beer has started fermenting (Bubbling vodka).
Hopefully I haven't screwed anything up too badly.
I guess next step is to transfer to Secondary Fermenter and add the Oak Chips. Any tips or thoughts on that?
Thanks
