Hey folks, I hope all is well. I am a rookie homebrewer. I didnt really like the first two batches I made because of the extract flavor...I am on my 3rd batch and decided to go all grain. So having said this, I am sure of the rookie status. I do have to say that I tasted my NuggFugg Irish Red as I bottled it this morning...and it was really tasty...so looking forward to the first bottle I crack open.

Welcome to brewing! Everything you need to know about brewing and AG brewing is in this awesome online book: http://www.howtobrew.com/sitemap.html

Also, I can't believe you are from Magnolia Texas...I grew up in Magnolia Texas! (Assuming you are speaking of the same Magnolia that is just north of Tomball, TX? )

I lived there in the late 80's through 1994. Back then the only grocery stores in Magnolia was Brookshire Bros, and this little store called Amato's. There were no fast food chains in town, Boogie Burger and Pappy's Pizza! Not sure if you've lived there long enough to know of these places. I would love to see some pictures of how the town looks now. I lived on the North side of town off Mill Creek Road.

Wow...well..it has definately changed. Amato's is still there and so is Brookshire..though in between the two The Woodlands has taken over (Around Honea Egypt Rd.). There is Multiple Grocery Stores, Residential areas that have been developed and the typical Home Depot, Target, Golds Gym and a dozen big names food joints. 1488 is five lanes now from 45 to Magnolia HS..so traffic is finally moving and caught up with the growth.

I went to Klein Oak so I was relatively close too. Welcome. - Jeff

Wow, yea I had heard the sprawl had finally reached it around 2000. One thing I remember the most about the area...snakes everywhere...I mean poisonous snakes, copper heads, water moccasins, coral snakes and freaking brown scorpions...in the house! Aside from that not a bad place to live but I definitely prefer the east coast now.

Welcome to the forums. i'm just down the street in Tomball brewing it up :ban:. I went to Klien Collins so we definitely played magnolia one year in football. I know a few people that went to high school there. I'm the same rookie status also. First batch was an extract, second was a partial grain, and the third was all grain. i cant do the same brew over and over :mug:. Maybe we can meet up and share some brews or help each other out

sounds like plan...
Well I just tried my irish red this weekend..7.3% abv and it was great. I am sticking to the all grain from now on...so much easier to toy and experiment and the flavor is too good to go back to extract. I just picked up my ingredients for my Red Hook ESB clone and laying down what else I will be brewing in the near future. Since there is a dewberry farm close to brookshire I was thinking of a dewberry wit and maybe follow that with a pumpkin saison for the fall. What are you plans for 2012.

Right now I haven't made a game plan yet. I usually just go one at a time right now. The next one I'm thinking of a french saison but I haven't really decided yet. I haven't delt with too much flavor in my beer yet, I just added coffee to my porter. I know I'm going to make a butt-load of cider this year and planning to make some kiwi mead which I'm going to tuck away for a while. I just bottled my IPA which was the first all grain what turned out great just need to wait to be fully carbed.
I just need some one to talk beer with because my family is mostly BMC only which kinda blows haha
