Hi All
Thanks for the great forum.
Just a quick intro, I'm from sunny South Africa.
I have done a couple batches of Extract, and need to take the next step.
I have purchased some Malt and wheat for the brewing to commence.
I have done extensive research on all grain brewing, bought 3 books, among hundreds of internet searches and youtude videos.
I still have loads to learn, and beer to make.
Let the fun begin.

Hi Ryan!

Just thought I'd comment since you're from SA. I'm not, but I lived in the Cape for a couple of years (my girlfriend is Afrikaans, from Johannesburg). I was at Heroldsbaai just outside George over Christmas, which is where the Outeniqua hop route is. We drove past a bunch of hop farms, but I was disappointed that I couldn't find one that I could buy any hops from.

Anyway, this forum is excellent, full of helpful advice. I'm by no means an expert, but what I can tell you is that I found the most significant improvement in my beers came from getting proper temperature control. Since Durban is perpetually warm, you will need to consider this.

I bought a used fridge for ~R300 and installed my own thermostat on it. It made a huge difference to the beers, I can't recommend it enough.

Anyway, good luck!
Cheers,
Daniel
