Hey. I am new to brewing beer and if anyone has any pointers or techniques they would like to share with me i would be really appreciative. I am still in the process of putting my homebrew kit together. I am wondering if i should simply buy the online kit and caugh the money over or go to the hardware store and purchase the rest of the materials? Well anyways i'm really excited. Cheers.

I would say go to a homebrew supply shop for your kit. The price should be roughly simmiliar for an begining kit (55-70) and save on the shipping. I beilieve there is one in cambridge beer-wine.com, maybe one north of the city. I got mine at www.home-brew.com its a little bit west in marlboro. They should also be able to direct you to what you need and get you started, instead of getting it online.

Welcome aboard, Newbie!

There is also a home brew supplier in Woburn, http://www.beer-wine.com/
They are real close to the 95/93 interchange, 155 New Boston Street, Unit T, Woburn, Massachusetts 01801

And check out the gatherings forum, it seems like there will be a bunch of get togethers this year.

Enjoy, Hippie

Hey now, welcome! Yup, I go to the one in Woburn, they are pretty fair on most prices. I have also heard of (but never visited) a place in Somerville, not sure where you are. Go for a decent kit that has fermenting pail, lid, airlock, hydrometer, hose, autosiphon, bottle capper, 6 gallon carboy (or 5 gallon), and buy one of the clone-beer type kits from the store for your first batch while you're there! Good luck, and stay active on this board, you'll learn a lot since there are a lot of super knowledgeable and experienced brewers on here!
