Whats up everyone,

I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to homebrewing, and wanted to stop in and say hello. I live in in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, NC, where beer is a definite cornerstone of the culture. I've helped brew a couple all-grain batches with a friend but have my own setup arriving tomorrow, and couldn't be more excited! Glad to have found this community and look forward to immersing myself in these forums and the ancient art of brewing. :mug: Cheers!

So you are from Raleigh? I live between Big Boss and Lone Rider... near the World of Beers. HA...

So many "beer cities" in this country,,, you guys are just recently one of them...

Other towns that might disagree with you.

  1. Cleveland (ya great brewpubs, who knew)
  2. SF-Bay Area
  3. Portland
  4. Seattle
  5. Milwaukee
  6. St. Louis
  7. Denver
  8. Chicago Metro

I would know having been to about 300 breweries in the US...

BUT I am most pleased my state has joined these ranks... (mostly because I like good beer and it is CLOSE NOW)

Happy Brewing...

I was referring to my city, Asheville, NC as "Beer City" simply because 2012 is the 4th year in a row it's won the title from Charlie Papazian's online poll (actually tied with Grand Rapids, MI this year).
Not that it's 'official' or anything, but often times people associate Asheville with "Beer City" because of this.
I'm well-aware of the fantastic breweries across the nation, so don't get me wrong. I was using the title quite literally.
Cheers

Asheville is my hometown- awesome place. You definitely should check out Mountain Ale and Lager Tasters (MALT). I was a member for a few years. They are an awesome group of homebrewers who make good contacts, have fun events and trips, and are just awesome to hang out and brew with. Check out their website (http://maltsters.org/) and give em a call.
