I know, the obligatory "hi, I'm new here" post. At least there's an appropriate forum for it.
I'm a very new brewer: one 5-gallon batch bottled (and 60% of it consumed, so we must've done something right). I've been reading about brewing for about a year, though, so I guess I have some "book experience"?
My wife and I started brewing as something fun to do that wasn't amazingly expensive, and had the added benefit of delicious results (albeit after a wait). Not wanting to sink a large amount of funds into equipment right off the bat, we've got a pretty simple ale setup: all plastic right now (and only one fermenter, which I do need to fix, because the mini-mash recipe I followed was a pain to "rack to secondary" without a secondary to rack to).
I'm not a big fan of bitter brews, so while I'm always up for drinking new beers, so far as brewing goes, I'm more likely to go with something that's minimally-hopped. I've got a few ideas on my "to brew" list, starting with a Belgian White, and then maybe a chocolate porter or a pumpkin ale.
