Been lurking for a long time, figured I should introduce myself. Been brewing for a about a year. Started last December on a Mr. Beer kit, and moved up to all grain since then. Still like brewing the small batches, ~2-3 gallons, but since I just got a two keg system and a 13 cu. ft. Freezer (to be converted to kegerator) figured I will be doing more 5 gallon batches.
The big thing I have been planning recently, is doing a glycol coolant system with a water bath (ala Hang Glider style) to use the same cooling power to temperature control fermentation. From what I have read, that using a keg of glycol and a pond pump I can easily control to ale temps here in N. California, and maybe event lager temps is I can get enough insulation and coolant.
