Hey everyone!

Just got a home brew kit from morebeer.com. Came with the blonde ale which is on day 3 of fermentation right now! Brew day went great. Was a lot of fun to do with a few good friends.

I have been a mechanic since I was 16. 26 now and I rebuild transmissions for a living. Took this up as a hobby and have become seriously addicted and I haven't even finished my first brew.

Everything is going smooth so far but I did notice some brown on the foam in the fermenter. Is this normal or due to poor sterilization? I could be paranoid but Any help would be great.

Brown foam is totally normal.

My dad is from Auburn. They had a pear orchard for ages. I spent a lot of time out there as a kid. Lovely place. Above the heat and below the frost.

In my experience... I've had brown and green foam in all of my batches... Haven't lost a batch yet. Seems to be completely normal. To me, it looks like hop residue and proteins... (But I am not an expert).

I am also from Sacramento, but I am currently living in Kansas for the next few years. Can't wait to get back to the Sacramento area.

Nice. A lot of locals on here. Looks like a pretty cool community. Been reading and every one seems pretty cool and helpful.

Seems like a lot of home brewers in northern Cali. My old shop foreman at Toyota had a home brew called Bare River Brewing co and had one of the best fruit infused beers in northern Cali. I'm also gonna be asking him a lot of questions as I grow and get better at this whole thing.

Thanks again
Nick
