Hi there, new guy here both to the forum and to home brewing. actually haventy brewed anything yet but plan to soon. i have been making apple cider in order to get used to fermentation, aging bottling etc. bottled my first stuff and though it tasted great, everything i hadnt drunk blew up a few days later. ill be hanging around in the cider forums for the time being trying to figure out what the hell ive done but look forward to getting into all grain brewing in the near future.

You may have bottled before fermentation was complete, or you may have added too much priming sugar. Either way, there was too much sugar in the cider and it was being consumed by the yeast in a closed bottle. The CO2 had to go somewhere and without an airlock that means boom. If you find it happening again, you might be able to save them by throwing them in the fridge to make the yeast dormant and hopefully stop them from blowing up.
