Hefeweizen in normal bottles

What volume of CO2 can normal 12 oz beer bottles hold?

Brewing a hefeweizen soon and would like to just carb to around 3.5-4.0 but everyone seems to be scared to carb regular bottles that high.

16.9 hefe bottles are much thicker glass. 3.5 seems to be the limit of 12ozers.
