So I have the POS little foam bungs my other rubber ones are being used, Anyway this thing would not stay in the carboy it kept popping up so in the process of pushing the bung further into the neck of the carboy to make an actual airlock it slid of and dropped right into my 1 week old batch of Belgian IPA. The bung had been sprayed with starsan but I can't imagine this is good for a piece of foam to be sitting in the bottom of this carboy. Now what do I do, is this beer screwed? I'm so pissed I'm beside myself.

I've never seen or used a foam bung but your best bet is likely to leave it there and let it ride. Try not to be so pissed at yourself. On the other hand, it has been a full week, right? Has the krasuen dropped? If so, take a reading and rack to another vessel to get the foam bung out of the beer.

Been there done that. It won't hurt your beer, this dishtowel trick does work.

Beer should be fine done similar things and never became an issue. I would proceed as normal not making any changes to your usual process except extracting the bung when you empty the carboy.

yup, relax, have spares around and fish out later.
That video is a good trick to keep in mind.
Won't need that trick with the foam one, you will just be able to grab with your fingers and pull out.
I normally only use the foam ones for my starters.

Okay thank you I feel much better. Krausen dropped last week, its sitting at 65-66deg. Because its a higher gravity beer I was gonna let it ride for 2-3 weeks in primary taking my first reading next week at the two week mark. Once I hit my FG I may rack to a secondary to dry hop but until then I guess I'll just leave it. Thanks for the quick replies.
