So in a few months I will be selling my house and moving in to a studio apartment which unfortunately means I will need to get rid of all of my brewing supplies...and trust me a I have amassed a huge inventory of brewing equipment. Since I have so much stuff I need some help figuring out what a fair price would be to sell it. Here's the link to my brewing equipment pictures with details about most of my equipment - http://www.flickr.com/photos/jp1316/sets/72157629095557194/. The highlights are a Brew Magic, 10 tap kegerator, fermentation chamber and a restaurant sink. I don't want to piece it all out, so please help me come up with a fair total price for everything. Thanks!

Come on man, the fact that I dont have access to this stuff just kills me. You gotta keep it. You could have the baddest brew bathroom in the building! Put it in storage or something. But if you MUST sell I'd say about I dont know 7 or 8000 but good luck getting that with out splitting it up. Are you just tired of brewing?

I Love brewing, that's why I have so much stuff...but I'm moving to Hawaii later this year and I just can't bring it with me. That's what I was thinking; somewhere between 7-8k.

Oh my goodness. What a setup. So sorry you have to sell this stuff. If I weren't 1,000 miles away I'd would love to help you pare down some of your misc. items. If I were to price it, I'd itemize everything and make a list at retail prices, then discount according to age/wear/etc. But I'm in finance and that's how we roll.

Obviously that takes you a bunch of time...so maybe just price out the big stuff and eyeball the rest, quote a price and let someone make you an offer. Though expect to discount heavily to sell the whole lot together.

Happy selling, dude...I wish you the best.

In all honesty I think your best bet would be to price it about what a brand new Brew Magic costs and hope that your other stuff attracts them.

But it never hurts to price it higher, like the 7k. You know how people are when it comes to lowballing. It's not a deal unless you hassle!

I'd try putting straps on that conical and try using it as a carry on.

Wow, that's an amazing amount of brew gear! Sorry you have to sell, especially that conical, it looks beautiful

Are you moving to Hawaii permanently? You don't have any family or friends that you could entrust it with for awhile?

Seriously. You have no idea how long you'll be out there for. If you can put it in storage for a year, see if you're still going to be out there after that, then maybe you figure out a way to ship it out, or sell it off at that point. My SIL and BIL live out there, have for the last 5 years. Moving back to the mainland shortly. Just saying, it is expensive to live out there, and they make good money. The "Groundhog Day" effect gets old after a while (or so I'm told, I'd be willing to see how long it takes though..)

Wow that's rough man. I just moved up from NOLA, if I knew you were selling, I would have easily taken all of that off your hands for 7k, as I'm in the market for a Brew Magic.

I think that 7k would be a fair asking price with no reservations. That's a nice setup.

Sad to say but the only way I think you would sell it as a whole is if you sold it CHEAP, way less than it costs like maybe 2-3K. More people are looking for peices than whole setups.

Here's the rub. Anyone who's at the stage where they recognize the need for all the stuff you have, will already have acquired a good portion of it. There are very few people out there willing to drop 7k on the whole lot because it would like voodoo for someone just getting into all grain. No doubt about it, I'd split off the brewmagic by itself for $4K, then try to sell the fermentation chamber with the conical for a grand. I'd go for the same amount for the Kegger. The restaurant sink would just as likely go to someone with a restaurant. The rest of the misc stuff would also go in its own lot. I know it's a pain to go for 5 different transactions, but you'll easily make $1000 more that way.

I would lovingly store all those items, free of charge, indefinitely if need be! Of course I would have to brew with it periodically, just to keep the rust off and make sure everything still worked. Hell, I would even ship you a six pack every month of the brew that I make with it. :D

That really sucks you gotta sell your gear. I'd be sick. I think Bobby has the right idea. Divide and conquer. If you absolutely have to sell it, don't add insult to injury by taking a huge loss on the whole lot. Are you moving permanently? If there's any chance that you'll be coming back to the mainland, I'd get a storage bin. Even if it sits there for 3 or 4 years, you'll save money on the loss you're going to take and the money you'll pay out when you eventually put another rig together.

I think most people already said it but getting rid of the whole thing will cost you a bigger loss, but selling in lots or itemized may take forever. It depends if you are in a hurry or not. Also, a geographical limitation is a big problem because of the large size of itens and impractical shipping.

I also think a lot of people that would be interested in your stuff would be like me, an AG brewer for some time trying to get upgrades/additions to a lot of already existent equipment. See, I am in the market for a BM system myself, but not in a hurry right now. If I was closer to you, I would definitively consider buying just the BM and perhaps the conical fementer, but would likely not offer more than 4K for them, more likely between 3.5-4K to be honest. If I were to spend 6K right now, I would rather get a brand new BM (they are offering a 500 discount) and a brand new conical with warraty (around 500-600). I have built or know how to build the other things you are offering, like the fermentation chamber and chiller with pump. So, my point is, I think the majority of your potential market thinks similar as I do, maybe not. Good Luck anyway. :mug:

Thanks for the feedback everybody. Sounds like Bobby's plan is the way to go. I should be posting it in the classifieds section in the next week or so.

For the record, this just made my stomach a bit queasy to see that you have to part with all of this stuff, I can't imagine what you're feeling like.

Good luck and I certainly this doesn't end your homebrewing career!

Wow tons of goodies. Brewstand and comical, and then you have party taps on the kegerator???? blashpemy!

Would love the conical, good luck selling. Sure someone on the board here would be willing to "store" all that for you and maybe clean it every week. (after they make sure it all works ya know)
