Has anyone ever actually Brewed in a Basket?

I'm guessing to allow the temp probe on the front of the kettle to clear the basket. Arbor does everything this large custom so I suspect hafmpty got it done special with a flat front.

why the flat front on the basket?

Sorry. Didn't see your question. The flat front is to allow the basket to sit all the way down in the pot and avoid the diptube. I can also avoid the temp probe too, but I don't have the Blichmann thermometer installed as I use the Tower of Power for mashing and after boiling with a small batch my wort level is just below the Blichmann thermometer temp probe.

Some guys will have leg extensions put on theirs so hey can have a circular basket that is propped up by he legs over the top of any diptubes/elements/etc. Because I do smaller batches I needed to keep my basket low in the pot. Plus I wanted to maximize grain space if I wanted to do a bigger beer.

You are correct. I had this made custom. Very easy process. I cut out a cardboard template and sent it to Chad. They made a sample piece for the bottom and sent that to me. I did a test-fit and then called with feedback and they took it from there. Very easy and great to work with.

Got my Arborfab basket a few days ago and I'm on my 4th brew with it already. Just amazing to me how much easier then it was with a bag, admittedly it's a ton more expensive ($225) then a bag. Mine is for a 20g Megapot, fits perfect.

It drains so fast compared to my bag in a basket setup that I'm trimming 15-20 minutes off the brew day. Also my recirculation problems seem solved.

Worth the upgrade if you love the hobby and can afford it over the regular bag / basket combo.

Nice! Does your lid still fit? I bought one but made a crucial mistake - my interior of my lid sits a little bit inside of my pot. Now my basket gets in the way of the lid closing. Guess I will just need to procure a flat lid.

Glad to hear it's working out great though. I'm anxious to conduct my first brew with mine.

Lid fits perfect still, I have about 1/4"-1/2" between it and the lid when it's on. Tight fit but no contact between the two.
