The US uses terms like Hard Cider and Hard Lemonade.
Why, if they use Hard in relation to drinks, do they not use the word Soft in relation to drinks?
What would someone from the US expect to find in the Soft Drink aisle in an Australian Supermarket?

Soft Drinks as used in the USA would include Coke, Pepsi, etc...Basically any beverage sans alcohol.
Thanks, I didn't know that. What do the signs in the Supermarket say though?
Also, keep in mind the title of this sub forum and be aware that it's 2.44am here in South Australia!
Cheers!

After seeing the thread's title, I knew it would go off the rails. NTTAWWT.

Back OT...in most 'Murican locations, supermarkets keep the booze in a separate aisle (or room) from the rest of the goods. In Minnesota, alcoholic beverages are in a completely different partition, with its own checkout and POS (no booze sales besides 3.2 beer in the grocery store itself). You'll know if it's soft drinks or hard drinks based on what part of the store you're in.
