I finally went for one. WOW - these things are very very accurate and easy to use. To test a high range I tested a zero solution 3 times (0.4, 0.4, 0.3) and then zeroed it and then retested the same zero solution 3 times (0.0, 0.0 and 0.0). Then put in some maraschino cherry juice 3 separate times (38.5, 38.5, 38.5). Then used a simple paper towel (not a fancy lab towel) to dry the prism and did not try too hard. Used the zero solution and it read 0.0 the FIRST try! Then back to the cherry juice for consistency - 38.5 on the spot first read. That amazes me! It was $145.00 but well worth it.
