Hi all,

Looking for some help with my Guinness set up at home. I'm using a new nitrogen dual gage regulator that I got from a hardware shop. The reason I'm using a new one is my gas cylinder fell over and busted my old one which actually came from the Guinness company.

Is there any reason it shouldn't work if I have it at the right setting for my home set up?

I put it on and the beer is flying out at a phenomenal speed which it obviously shouldn't be. I'm at 30 psi which on this new regulator is about as low as I can get it.

Any and all hints/tips and recommendations are appreciated. I've already tried a load of different things but I'm looking for advice from people running nitrogen/CO2 mixed gas beers.

Cheers

30 PSI on a nitro setup is about right. I assume you're using a stout faucet. Have you double-checked to make sure the restrictor plate is in place?

And.... so I checked to see if the restrictor plate was in fact still in place only to find that it has been washed down the sink!!!

Crap...

Restrictor plates (and flow straighteners - if that got flushed, too) are available for some popular stout faucets.

What's yours look like?

Cheers!

I'd take the trap off the sink and retrieve the parts, personally.

Good idea. The restrictor is usually made of metal (at least all the ones I've seen have been) so it probably has enough mass that it'll be sitting in the trap. Hopefully it wasn't the kitchen sink...with a garbage disposal that's been used in the meantime.

Drains checked and disc is gone and gone forever. I live in remote Southeast Asia so ordering parts is a slow and very often unsuccessful endeavour. I have ordered some replacements and should be able to start pouring again in about two weeks. Worth the wait.

Cheers all for your very helpful input.
