Hello!

I'm a college student in Pittsburgh, PA. I'm really not quite sure what to put here, beyond that I'm interested in homebrew and trying to learn about it before I start. I bake, and I've been fussing over my sourdough starter for some time now (my old one died, the poor thing. Darned if I know how I killed it), so brewing seems like a natural way to proceed. I'd like to make a nice dark beer - the darker the better.

Welcome to the forum.

Get your hands on "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing" by Charlie Papazian.

It's been the stepping stone for most homebrewers and is very easy to understand.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to hit the bookstore on my lunch break today. If I'm in luck, I'll have something much more interesting than my math book to read during the slow time at work.
