Hello friends and enthusiasts alike.

The other night My buddy and I fulfilled a relativley new dream of becoming beer brewers. While the process took us all night and was ultimatley a huge fiasco. The experience was well worth it. We dove right in brewing an all grain "Blegian American IPA" and ran into issues rather quickly. First our Mash/lauter Tun was completly ineffective. Our Boil went well with everything working as well as we could have hoped for. We cooled the wort effectivley, we had made a pretty successful Heat Exchange. But transfering the wort into the carboy proved to be more difficult than expected, with our filter not really doing a very good job of filtering...it kept popping out and letting grain into the carboy. Now 6 days later, i think the fermention has slowed significantly. The Beer fermented rather vigorously or so we think. Seems like it peaked on about day 2 maybe day 3. All in all the experience was a good even if unsuccessful (we're still not sure how successful the brew turn out to be) one and I'm rather encouraged to get back at it. If anyone has any advice it is and always will be appreciated.

Yes, welcome. Lots of people here with good advice and a good amout of regional people, too.

So I've heard....Sounds awesome...it'll be most valuable to the learning process..in regards to setting up a brew session.

I like Elmhurst ... I used to live there. Winemakers on North ave. is a decent place. Prices aren't great, and I suspect most of the liquid yeast is old, but it's real close and there's a decent selection. Check out the local homebrew clubs.
