Hi all, new member here. I am on my fourth batch. So far, all my other attempts have come out great. This batch is a Shiner Bock clone. This is my first mini-mash attempt. All my others have been all extract. This is also my first attempt at a true lager. I have an upright freezer I got for free from Craigslist. The defrost timer would stick on in defrost mode, and the freezer would cool. Replaced and put a digital temp controller on it. I am on my third week in the secondary, at 40 degrees. I am thinking of doing the 5 Gal RubberMaid Mash/Tun project I saw on here. Great site!!!!

Beer Necessities/ Brew Depot , nice place, bussy on Saturday. Very good selection and decent prices. But, it is a drive for me, if I can't make it up there I buy from AHS.

welcome,
I would recommend going with a 10 gallon cooler.

I wanted to add my welcome and say that Killian's advise is very good. You won't be sorry if you go with 10 gal. and you'll need 10 gal. if you decide to brew a big beer.
