Howdy. Name here is Vance and I hale out of Traverse City, MI. I brewed for 2 years about 10 years ago and had a lot of fun and learned a lot. My very first batch was "ok", slightly better than just drinkable and was an American Lager kit that came with the equipment. I produced two beers that were fantastic, one that as just barely drinkable, and the rest in between. I'd say I'm partial to ambers and wee-heavies. My only claim to home brewing fame was a question that ended up being published in the "Brew Your Own" magazine, May 2000. After reading the "Think you ruined your beer? Set your fears aside!" sticky over in the begginers forums it brought that beer back to mind. It ended up being my best beer that went to bottle. Here's the link for giggles sake: http://www.byo.com/stories/wizard/article/section/121-mr-wizard/610-excited-fermentations-a-aggressive-boils-mr-wizard The editors took a great deal of liberty in making the article more technical sounding but its otherwise accurate.
So, here I am 10 years later with a lot more room and a little more time. I'd sold all my gear 10 years so I'll be assembling everything probably after the holidays. I've been lurking around here a couple of weeks now and am inspired to get back into it. So, catch you around and pleased to meet you.
