I may have missed my mark?
The recipe says my OG should be 1.073 and my Boil Gravity should be 1.052.

Now my gravity measure was right at 1.049 when I started my boil so I believe I'm .003 under my mark at boil.

I'm not quite sure what that means, am I okay or is it catastrophic...

Will my post Ferm gravity be the real indicator of the ABV of the beer???

A 0.003 difference in BG is meaningless for your finished product. All this means is that your extraction efficiency was slightly lower than anticipated - you didn't get all the available sugars from the grains that you intended to from your mash. This is easy to fix for next time, though. Crush your grain more finely, monitor your mash temperature, and possibly mash longer. Far from a problem for your beer, though.

If you're expecting and really want an OG of 1.073, you could boil a bit longer to raise the gravity, but you'd end up with less wort than planned in your fermenter. Worst-case scenario I see is you end up with a slightly lower OG than planned, say 1.070 instead, but the full volume you wanted. You could add a bit of boiled and cooled DME if you really wanted to regain those gravity points, but I'd be happy if my numbers were in this range.

As far as measuring ABV, take (OG - FG) x 131
