Grainfather Conical Fermenter

Has anyone given the Grainfather Conical Fermenter a try? My home suffers from very inconsistent temps all year round and while this may be a more expensive option it may save me money in the long run.

I have a Spike Conical with the temperature kit, and it works really well with an external chilling setup. The grainfather setup with that proprietary valve assembly seems fiddly. It is cool to see a jacketed fermenter at that price point though.
