Is it possible to do a 10 gallon batch with a 10 gallon Lauter Tun. Or will I have to make two separate batchs of wort. I have a 16 gallon brew pot coming.
Thank you for any input

Yes, absolutely. You will want to use that 16 gallon kettle as for a 10 gallon batch you will be starting with a boil volume of 12 gallons or so. However, you are not going to have that kind of volume in the mash tun. Assuming approximately 20 lbs of grains you will be adding about 6 gallons of strike water. Then after mashing you'll be adding sparge water but at the same time draining wort so you are not going to exceed the capacity of the 10 gallon mash tun.

Thank you ED and BOT. I had read about someone not sparging and adding all the water one time. I knew it would not fit like that with a 10 gallon batch of grain. And I assume the efficiency is better when sparging also.
