What is your best guesstimate at your grain absorption rate? I have only done one BIAB so far and my numbers were way off, mainly bc what I believe was inaccurate calculated grain absorption and my stove had a very low boil off rate...
 
I use 0.08 gal/lb and have had good results, measured my boil off rate to be 1.25 gal/hr for my 9gal pot.

What software are you using to provide the volumes you expected?
 
I lose about 8 ounces per pound of grain. Admittedly, I squeeze my bag a little. My boil off rate is 1.25 gallons per hour in a 15 gallon kettle.
 
I haven't done a BIAB but everything I have read on the topic its pretty close to tun-ing it up.
 
That's about the same as I get, maybe if I was more patient I would not need to squeeze. I let mine drain about 15-20 mins.
 
0.05 galons/lb

Big squeeze and drain over pot using a collander. Very consistent

I double crush and raise the bag after a mash-out at 170. I suspect a finer crush may have a bearing on how much wort the grain will hold onto. Reducing the volume.
 
I use Beersmith and it doesn't use oz/gallon as mentioned here. It uses oz/oz.

The default is .586 which translates to .037 which is pretty close to the .04 mentioned here.

I have my Beersmith set to .56 which is .035 gal/pound so we are all in the same ballpark.

That's about what I get when boiling on my kitchen stove. I just start with less water because I know what I boil off. The default setting in Beersmith seems to want you to boil off a lot more. You can change that setting to reflect what you really get.
