So the weather finally warmed up here in Kansas and I got to finally try out my new banjo burner today with a NB Chinook IPA. I was so excited about how fast the water came to a boil I spaced out and forgot to steep the specialty grains. After I realized this I pulled the kettle off and cooled it below 170 degrees and steeped the grains. I then brought it back up to a boil and add the DME I forgot and then finished out the boil as normal.

Will this turn out alright? Is it even worth fermenting?

I can't see why it would be a problem at all, as long as you didnt steep at 170+, which it sounds like you didnt.

Seems to me that the grains do not know that the water was too hot before they went in. The grain only cares that the temp was right when they were in the hot tub....
