Went to my LHBS today instead of ordering online and I'm glad I did. Between the shipping costs and a few price differences I saved about $100 going there instead of ordering online.

Picked up the following items:
Bayou Classic 36 qt stainless steel stock pot
Bayou Classic SP-10 burner
long handled spoon
floating thermometer
2 cases of bottles
extract kit-american wheat (came with bottle caps)
star-san
John Palmer's "How to Brew"
2 extra airlocks (just in case one breaks)
strainer for fermenter

In addition I already had:
Fermenter w/lid
Bottling Bucket
Bottling wand
Syphon equipment
Capper
Bottling Brush
Fermenter thermometer
Hydrometer
Cleanser
Airlock

I think that's all I'll need besides a spray bottle and propane tank which I'm getting on Wednesday. Just trying to plan everything out and give other guys who are looking an idea of what I have to start with. Can't wait to get started! :mug:

I see you have one ferm bucket. I'm going to assume that you are only using the primary?

I love using the carboys with blowoff tubes (If necessary for the recipes).

If your plan is to use a secondary for any reason (Even though many people on here don't use it), I would recommend getting a carboy next.

By the way, I plan on completely abandoning the idea of a secondary for a while just to see how things turn out.

Revvy's got me convinced.

I've looked into it and eventually I will get a secondary and it will most likely be a 6.5 gallon carboy. I had a budget to work with as far as getting the stuff today and I came in under that just to keep the wife happy. lol

looks like a great setup you have there !! Everything except priming sugar (might come with kits). Depending what the cleanser is, you might want to go with something like PBW. There is always more to get as I'm finding out: wort chillers/plate chiller, kegging equipment. I like your SS brewpot & burner, I'm thinking about getting a burner.

Keep an additional 6 pack of bottles handy, you might need them. 5 gal can yield up to 2 cases and a 6 pack.

Hope so, just need to relax a little. I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna sanitize everything and really other than that I'm not too worried. Don't know if I should fill up a cooler to sanitize in after cleansing or just fill up my fermenter and bottling bucket and sanitize all my equipment in those or what?

Interesting... I was just talking to one of my professional brewer friends, and he asked me why I was even doing a secondary fermentation. I too made the decision to ditch secondary for a while - just crash chill after primary and package after a week or so.

Most people around here are suggesting to leave it alone in the primary for roughly a month. ChshreCat is testing a very long primary right now in this thread:

Revvy's got about a billion posts related to this also.

The only time that I might use secondary for the next few batches will be for those beers that I wish to age in the fermenter. I will likely sit my RIS in the secondary after about a month on the primary and put some OAK chips in there.

Yeah the extract kit came with the priming sugar so I'm good there. The cleanser also came with my brewing kit that I received for christmas, something like 8 packets total so I'm sure that'll be enough? At least I hope it'll be enough. :p
