Hey all,

I'm happy to say my first batch of homebrew is bubbling away in the primary as we speak. For a first attempt, I went with the Brewer's Best IPA kit. It seemed like a small step above some other starter kits since it came with steeping grains and whatnot. Anyway, I recently discovered that some vendors also put together their own recipe kits. I'd like to get a second batch started and was wondering what other peoples' kit experiences have been and which ones are good. I would like to stick to more or less the same level of complexity but want to make a good beer...I realize that any kit is going to be inferior to all grain, etc but I want to do what I can until I get to that point. Thanks for your help!

P.S. I would like to try my hand at perhaps a Stout or Porter for Batch 2.

Northern Brewer, Austin Brewer, Midwest Brewer are all good online sources, with a large selection and good shipping prices. I've also had good luck with Brewers Best kits, although if the turnover is not great in the LHBS, they may not be as fresh as the other three companies.:tank:

Check out Midwest supplies, northern brewer,AHS. They have just about any brew kit you could want. And they're def good.:mug:

I been purchasing Midwest. Decently fast shipping. Buy more then 1 kit at a time to save on shipping.

Thanks for all the replies.....I was checking out the Midwest Supplies site. I see they have an Oatmeal Stout kit which is quite tempting, but from what little I've read about it, I thought oats had to be mashed for an oatmeal stout? Has anyone tried this?

when i started i purchased almost all my kits (~12) from midwest adn was very happy with them. i still purchase most of my stuff from them because they have great customer service, i've had to call them because i messed my order up, not them. vb
